Since its founding in 1983, Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association (HCPA) has relied on the support of individuals who believe in the value of history and in particular Catasauqua’s important contribution to the building of America. Your support at all levels helps HCPA fulfill its mission to illuminate the rich and nationally significant industrial history of Catasauqua enabling each of us to construct meaning from the past for the present and future. Today the legacy of Catasauqua’s illustrious past can be seen in the elegant mansions once owned by the leaders of industry in the iron, silk, brewing, and cement industries.

Without you, HCPA wouldn’t be able to:

  • Create and care for our collection of Catasauqua artifacts
  • Grow and care for our collection of paintings of Catasauqua homes and buildings
  • Maintain our buildings and grounds
  • Continue to restore the Biery House, Summer Kitchen, Mule Barn and Scale House
  • Sponsor activities such as the 2014 Old Home Week celebration, biennial house tours, programs, develop on-line resources and special events.
  • Keep open the Lehigh Canal towpath for hikers and bicyclists
  • Continue to support community revitalization and tourism
  • Protect the buildings in our two National Historic Districts

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, is not supported by the Borough of Catasauqua. HCPA relies on contributions from individuals, foundations, businesses, and corporations to fund our operations and services. Many families find that memorabilia handed down through the generations may be at risk of getting lost or no longer valued or preserved by future generations. HCPA welcomes donations of items that speak to the history of Catasauqua, its early residents and businesses.

We can accept digital copies or originals depending on your situation. We will do our best to document and care for your items so they are available for the next generations, for genealogists and for other historic preservation organizations to access and enjoy.

HCPA is currently planning to enhance our collection documentation using the latest software system for cataloging archive, library, historic object, art object, natural history, archaeology, and photograph collections. If you wish a receipt for tax-donation purposes, please complete the form and provide along with your donated items.

Please contact Janice Lathrop, Deb Mellish, or Ben Ferenchak with questions.
